The policy may be enforced while the legal challenge runs its course.
The Supreme Court lifted a lower court’s pause on the policy of President Donald Trump’s administration to ban transgender individuals from the military. The Defense Department may enforce the ban as lawsuits against it proceed.
President Trump signed the “Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness Executive Order” on January 27 that directed the Pentagon to update guidance on medical standards for trans-identifying persons and “rescind guidance inconsistent with military readiness.” The order also stated that transgender service “conflicts with a soldier’s commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one’s personal life.”
The administration claimed in court filings the ban “furthers the government’s important interests in military readiness, unit cohesion, good order and discipline, and avoiding disproportionate costs.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For justices of the Supreme Court as they deliberate over the outstanding cases in which oral arguments have been made.
- For President Trump and Secretary Hegseth as they seek to ensure that the U.S. Armed Forces are in good health and ready for service.
- For Americans who experience gender dysphoria to find peace and freedom in Christ Jesus.
